Movies

Thought I'd start a topic in which you could discuss any films you have seen or want to see in the future. I noticed that we had this sort of thing for games, TV and music but not for movies so here you go. You can talk about any films you like, old or new, blockbuster or shoe-string budget indie stuff.

What is everyone looking forward to most in 2008? And what was in your opinion the best film of 2007? Have you got a favourite film ever?

I'm looking forward to the new Batman film and new JJ Abrams project, Cloverfield.

Best film I saw last year was probably Pan's Labyrinth which I thought was absolutely brilliant. I also enjoyed Munich, Blood Diamond and Zodiac among others.

Discuss!

Dark Knight.

Loved Batman Begins and the sequel (involving Heath Ledger as The Joker) looks awesome.

The next James Bond. Contrary to what others have said, I thought Casino Royale was the James Bond movie I've been waiting for in years. Like Batman Begins, it changed the reality into a more grittier, more realistic Bond.

I can't wait to see Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The problem is, the movies are not near the class of the books. Where the books are subtle, with many layers and interlinking stories, the movies tend to merely dilute them. It's not bad, but instead of merely ripping out hundreds of pages to fit a movie-length, they could've tried to take a few of the layers, and worked with them (perhaps braver directors/scriptwriters are needed). Well, they're blockbusters first-and-foremost, unfortunately. Still, they're enjoyable.

Excellent, excellent taste. Batman Begins is the best comic book movie I've ever seen, bar none. I thought Nolan lost it by adding the Joker (Nicholson was impressive, and there are other bad-guys available I thought), but I heard the laugh in a teaser and the voice, and Ledger's got the voice down fantastic. My most awaited movie of 2008. Aaron Eckhart's also playing Harvey Dent, and I really rate this guy (Thank You for Smoking is a wonderful, wonderful, film).

After the extreme disappointment that was Spider-man 3, I intend to cleanse myself with class blockbuster movie-making.

One of my favourites of the year before (saw it in theatres). Loved it.

Cloverfield has the most intriguing trailer I've seen in a long time. Completely caught my interest.

Other movies I want to check out include Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and The Incredible Hulk.

I saw 'Before the devil knows you're dead' tonight. Decent, not the worst film I've seen, but definitely not deserving of the reviews I've seen it get.

I really want to see 'I Am Legend', the trailors look Quality. Similar film to 28 days later.

My favourite film of all time though is 'The Lord Of The Rings' I love all 3 films with a passion. I'm really into Medievil and sourcery films.

Someone mentioned they watched "No Country For Old Men". Anybody else watch it? It's a great movie.

Say no more. My favourite of all time, too. Did you watch Gladiator and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon? Both are tied for my second favourte movies ever.

It's a good movie. Not the best movie I've seen this year. I think 28 Days Later was better, but Will Smith did well. When you watch the movie, check out wikipedia to see the ending of the book. I wish they went with that.

The book is way better than the movie, for I Am Legend. The took away from the whole premise of the book, just to Hollywoodise the ending, and I had such high hopes for that book.

I really want to see 'No Country For Old Men.' Getting rave reviews, has one of my favourite childhood movie stars in it (Josh Brolin - I grew up with the Goonies) and the killer has probably the two most ingenious weapons ever, a cattle gun and a silenced shotgun. Creative, eh?

A movie of real substance would be nice. Like Crash, like some Tom Tywer films. Woody Allen. I cannot name so many, but I'm mystified by the popularity of any action or plot-driven Hollywood film amongst anyone older than age 22-24. What's the appeal? Batman? more bulls--t.

Practically any film which doesn't come out of the Hollywood machine that relies on special effecs as opposed to a good script etc.
