Fair enough. Thanks Paul, I obviously had my wires crossed somewhat there. I just had the impression that he was talked about on this forum quite often but never really got much of a chance and then, suddenly he's off to Liverpool and getting headlines in the press for what has to admitted was a very creditable performance in the U20 tournament.

Fair enough. Slings and arrows and all that then I guess.

There's also a report in the Daily Mail that we've accused Liverpool of tapping him up before they were legally allowed to contact him.

Surely not.

He's been a talented player for years and had a large portion of success across all junior levels, usually playing up an age group. But from what I understand he's got a bit of an attitude problem, partially why his loan at Vitesse was disappointing. Unless he matures significantly he'll probably continue to struggle, more so now when he'll be up against men where his physical attributes won't be as dominate like in junior levels.

I remember him being wheeled out by Mourinho at a press conference getting bigged up by him. He was quite prolific in his youth team days.

I think Solanke's problem was that he demanded 50k wages after a rather uninspiring season at Vitesse, and it did not exactly benefit him that Tammy at the same time exceeded him in proving himself at professional level and showing the desire and attitude of a model professional. Imo he is also a player without any significant strengths, other than being a goal-scorer. He will have a good PL career for sure, but I don't think we will ever regret going for Tammy over him. I think it is important that the club show they will not be held to ransom. Keeping the kids' feet on the ground is going to help them achieve success, here or elsewhere.
