I didn't say it was recent. The Guardian report was talking about the same events and they happened months ago. Actually, I have a feeling that the date of the report may be wrong. It may have taken the date where the Guardian corrects the description of camps.

Also, the headline and report do not match the quote from Buck and the CST. Buck actually says that fans using racist chants will either be banned or spend time in diversity training. I can find nothing there that says they will be sent to Auschwitz to do that training (nor in the comments of the FSF). The report conflates Buck's statement with a trip made by some club people and supporters who went on the March of the Living in June, but that was not a punishment, it was a club sponsored trip.

It was a Press Association report (as I clearly stated in my original post, and is clearly stated at the top of the article on the Guardian web site), printed verbatim in many papers... I just happened to link to The Guardian one. Organisations will often use a news agency such as PA to announce something as it's likely to get wider coverage (ie be picked up by a greater number of diverse media outlets) than contacting each paper. PA don't tend to hold on to a story for months and then distribute it... that 'story' would have come from the club that day.

Sorry, I didn't notice that. It seems odd how the statements don't seem to match up.

Well that's not surprising surely? Since no-one will have the authority or the right to "send people to Auschwitz". They might invite people to go there to see for themselves what it was like, in order to cause them to reflect on their own attitudes, but they wouldn't be able to mandate it, but then that's probably not what you meant?

If they send everyone to Auschwitz who joins in with songs considered to be anti semitic at Stamford Bridge there'll be about 5000 people at our next home game and they'll all be sat in the East and West stands.

Any Anti-semitic chanting or any racist chanting has no place at Chelsea or anywhere.  Offenders should be banned for life regardless if our owner is Jewish or not.  There is no place for this in our country, the national socialist Labour party don't run the country.

In reality, the anti-semitic chanting is anti Spurs fans chanting and you know that. Most Chelsea fans join in with the anti Spurs fan chanting because they have chosen to keep the word alive by claiming ownership of it. Do you seriously want to ban 90% of our fan base?

I genuinely don't believe that even 1% of those who sing the anti Spurs fans songs are truly anti semitic. I know I'm not.

It's like singing along to a rap song with the N word. Does that immediately make you racist?

Enough of the virtue signalling.

Of course, but I can't see anything from the club concerning action against anti-semitic chanting that has anything to do with Auschwitz. The headline says "Chelsea to send racist fans on Auschwitz trips instead of banning them" and the report starts "Chelsea want to send racist supporters on trips to the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz instead of imposing banning orders... Chelsea wants to offer supporters caught being racist the chance to attend education courses at the second world war concentration camp in Poland." But actually what the club says is "We can ban you or you can spend some time with our diversity officer...". The report conflates the  "March for Living" which has nothing to do with anti-semitic chants. Personally, I think they should be banned, but I understand their argument. Also, I would be more interested in what Jewish organisations have to say about this approach. More so than CST or FSF.

Of course.

I think you have been well and truly conned mate.  Meanwhile in Westminster there is a stack of "New" Labour MPs facing deselection and in Palestine the news is not being covered.

The actual news is a film sponsored by Chelsea.  The PA article goes nowhere near that story, preferring to produce more anti-anti propaganda for its sponsors.
When even the Press Association goes off track to report what it has been fed by a PR firm while ignoring the Chelsea official announcement you know how the press works.

Mourinho must be back on Madrid's radar , today there's an article in the Mail quoting Hazard as saying he'd like to work with Mourinho again . Until he signs an extension the UK media will be working 24/7 to get him away from us.

EPL's Game of Thrones possibility, JM to RM, Conte to Utd and Hazard to join JM at  RM.

Should Hazard leave we would have a big hole to fill in terms of quality.
