OK, I see what you're saying but I'd have put the greater amount of physicality permitted by our referees under a different heading than match fitness.

It'd be interesting to see bleep test results for players from around the world. I'd bet a lot of money that there would not be a glut of UK players at the top. Certainly I felt we've been pretty thoroughly out run by a number of sides in recent years. Juve and Shaktar come to mind.

True but the bleep test gets faster an faster, an in general because of our players typically bing more physical they ain't the fastest. If the bleep test speed stayed the same I'm sure we wouldn't fair too badly.

But I get what you mean, an I don't see foreign players as weaker in any way. I train a youth team and my techniques are taken from abroad more then this country, especially Jose, who does a lot of ball work, an fitness with the ball. The F.A has now introduced new techniques that they have picked up from abroad.

Maybe then it might take Eto'o a few games to get used to the hectic part of British football, how newly promoted teams either give 110% or get trashed. But I still back the move for Eto'o, yes it's a few years late, but remember Larrson for Manu..

And a very tenuous one too. Can you seriously see United buying Eto'o any more than us buying him?.

They did get H.Larrson once, an he was older I think. An Eto'o I think knows that he would have to take a pay cut, an Anzi seem desperate, it's not a no go area for either Chelsea or Man U. Unlikely yes, but it wouldn't surprise me if someone moves or him, he is at the end of the day a quality striker.

Eto'o would be a good fall back option. Still only 32, younger than Didier (who many said should have stayed at 34), and loves Jose, will be motivated and up for the challenge. As a short-term option as Lukaku matures, for the cheap price he will cost, not a bad choice.

But Rooney isn't over yet. Just wait and see.

Eto'o's record isn't that great btw (was there too many apostophes in "Eto'o's"?). And his game was based all around his pace, which by all accounts he's lost. I fear a turnip at any price is still a turnip.

Larsson was a loan deal for about 3 months whilst the Swedish league (where he then played) was in it's mid-winter break. I think he only played about half a dozen or so games. Totally different kettle of fish.

And I'm sorry to send this waaaaaay away from the point by Larsson was one of my favourite all time strikers in the world, ever ever.

Eto'o to United is more Michael Owen than Henrik Larsson.

Before questioning the brain power of the members of this forum, I would suggest checking your spelling and grammar.

Thanks for your input, ill be sure to take it into consideration.

The fee quoted is £5million and that is what we were seemingly ready to spend on Ruddy. I'm not saying this is the perfect deal but Eto'o for 1 or 2 years whilst Lukaku is not quite ready to lead us for 60 games doesn't sound too bad to me. Yes he is on ridiculous wages but from what I have read he got payed all of his wages up front when he joined Anzhi and I would've thought an offer of anywhere between £80-100,000 a week would be quite attractive to him. What I am saying is it is a while since he last got paid if reports are true and if we can get him on a two year contract I would definitely trust Jose as it is a player he knows very well. Over 60 games ideally Lukaku would start 30 and get 15-20 sub appearances, that leaves 30 starts between Torres and Ba including big games and bear in mind that when Lukaku is struggling from time to time they will have to make a difference. I am not convinced at all with either of them to do this. This is why Rooney is perfect and why Eto'o doesn't sound like a bad option to me. Last season Lukaku only made 34 appearances total and I don't have the stats to hand but from memory around 20 were starts. With this information I would say that my predictions for ideal Lukaku appearances are pretty good and this is why any signing in my opinion will not stall his development.

£5 or £10 million, it doesn't matter. If you and 90% of the fans on here think he will be a good signing, it still doesn't matter. We will not be signing him.

Eto'o hasn't quite hit the hits of his Barca days in Russia but he's had a steady 1 goal in 2 ratio.

Scored 9 goals in Europa League last year.

Don't think he'd get more than 20 but I'd say he'd chip in with more than Torres if he did sign.

Not sure how you can cite Eto'o's Europa League tally and say that you "don't think he'd get more than 20", and then push him as preferable to Torres, whose 20+ goal tally is generally derided on the basis of "yes but most were against crap Europa teams".
