Seems like KDB is going to City, that will be interesting.

We should step in and scupper that deal. De Bruyne would be a good signing for us.

Assists, very direct, scores goal. Can play left or right-wing. How much would he cost?

^^ De Bruyne is never going to come back here. We messed up the situation to be honest. Should have kept him longer after selling Mata. Selling our only two No.10 in the same transfer window then watching Oscar drop form in the 2nd part of the season. Painful.

Only problem is he doesn't do tracking back and we all now Mourinho doesn't like it.

We didn't have the patience, it's as simple as that. To have and develop quality young players, patience plays a big part in it.

Stones has had it at Everton, he has had more then his fair share of shakey displays, if that had been Zouma in a Chelsea shirt, he would have been out the door. Either a loan at a nothing club or simply moved on to make room for the next person.

Rahman wouldn't have got a look in either, he doesn't know how to defend properly yet.

We need to start giving players their chance and be supportive. Otherwise we might as well call it quits on finding potential world class players, and just buy proven players. Yes it will cost more, but at least we are getting a ready to go player.

Apparently De Bruyne wanted to play every week and not sit on the bench. A sign of a bad attitude.

Yet Mikel is content to sit on the bench and is therefore a ‘good team player’.

Yes. And Willian tracks back wonderfully and is a hard worker but his assists and goals you can count on the fingers of one hand.

It's a difficult balance. But why sacrifice one over the other instead of finding a team balance to address individual player’s strengths and weaknesses.

And we need more than 3 CB's. If we sign Stones and loan out Zouma, that's not exactly helping our small squad. No need to loan out either with both being u21, right? I know Stones is 21 now, but he's 21 this calendar year... He's considered as over 21 at the start of next season?

Don't forget JT will not be around forever. 3 CB's? Cahill, Stones & Kalas (remember him? clean sheet at Anfield then loaned out??). Zouma can play there if required but he can play with or instead of Matic as well and hopefully push Fab up the pitch a bit more.

or we go with Cahill, Kalas & Zouma as the 3 CB's. Do we need Stones that badly? Yes he is potentially good, English but £34m? I would be amazed we would pay that in this day and age.

Maybe JT has some love children growing up and can join in a few years ...... :-)

It's a funny world.

Are you implying these things are contradictory?

I think we can safely forget that for a few years yet.

He is 34. Ferdinand, an ordinary CB, and much more dependent on pace, just retired at 36.

Adams played till he was 36 - despite a dreadful lifestyle.

Maldini - a truly great defender comparable with JT played till he was 41.

JT has taken care of himself, had no serious injury, has never relied on pace; it is hard to see him not being a top class PL defender still at 38.

If he goes it will be because we sign another Courtois or two, someone who surprises us all by being even better.

Cue a flurry of posts from you know who about some young lad at Everton
