You lucky s**!

We could do worse short term.  I believe he was MOTM in Portugal's opening Euro 2016 match.  Class all day long.

Agree..I still remember him being the first to commiserate with JT when England lost to Portugal back in the day (When England had a real Captain and CH)

I doubt the story is accurate. I'd like to be more emphatic than that, but we, as a club, do some crazy things at times, such as loaning out full backs left right and centre when we have a dearth of usable alternatives!

Last summer we went after Begovic for two reasons... he's a top quality 'keeper (not THE very top, but good enough as a back-up) with Premiership experience AND he's home grown. With so few HG players in the squad, why on earth would we get rid of him now? In spite of rumours that he might go to Everton (he, along with others, has been mooted as a make-weight in any Lukaku deal) or elsewhere, I've yet to see a quote from Begovic, his agent or anyone at the club to even suggest that he wants to leave or that the club want him to leave. There hasn't even been an unfounded and/or unsubstantiated suggestion that he's "unhappy" to lend credence to such stories. Just stuff from bloggers that we want to sign so-and-so as a 'keeper, and now that Courtois has said that he never wanted to leave and his words were mistranslated and/or taken out of context, then it must be Begovic who is leaving.

I think this is a club motivated thing as apart from when Jose has been here we've had crap back-up GK's, remember when we used to just have Turnbull and Hilario year-on-year? I reckon the way the club see it is that they can get a good £10-12m for Begovic and pay the new bloke 40% less as well. Personally, I am of the opinion you need a good back-up so I was ok with the Lopez rumours but Edurado is a worry.

As for other rumours we're also being linked with Rodriguez of Wolfsburg, that's the second LB after Hector we've been linked with this week, hopefully somethings happens.

Like Rodriguez......good age too. Would probably spell the permanent end of Baba as he is only 2 years older or so

Personally I think he is slightly suspect at defending in that he can leave quite a bit of space behind him and he is on the same side as Hazard, so that would be a concern. However, even though I am a defence first type of person I'd personally make an exception for Rodriguez as he is a specialist set-piece taker - so no more Willian hitting the first man on 75% of corners and free-kicks.

I vote JT plus Lord Percy too, but Gallas got them out of trouble quite a lot - think how many times that guy sprinted back to rescue JT, LP and Paulo (none of them lightning fast).

Arguably our best ever back four in recent times.

I loved Paulo's floppy hair too - totally off-trend.

Ah, Paulo. A footballer with a sensible haircut you wouldn't mind your daughter going out with.

Rodriguez worries me. He's been devastating going forward for years but nobody bigger than Wolfsberg have come in for him. He'd be an offensive upgrade on Baba but I'm not so sure defensively.

You've asked for 2 FBs this window have you not? So far, haven't seen you cry out for any more strikers ................

What other conclusion can one make from your posts if that's what you write?

If that is how you read, best not make any conclusion.

Totally disagree.  There is no argument about this whatsoever  :)

Personally think Rodriguez is ... Well, a bit rubbish based on the 10 or so games I've seen him play. A small sample of course, but he strikes me as a winger who just happens to play further back.

I'd be surprised if we're in for him. He's no better now than a year ago when we were spending a load on a young, attacking Bundesliga left back.

Yes, I have come to understand that one is best advised to not take anything you write at face value. The meaning of it changes several times per day it seems.
