Rumours from Italy saying we've made a giant bid of 70 million euros for Sandro, but it's been rejected and we won't bid higher. So looks like that one may go to the window and require Sandro to request a move.

If Sandro did fall through, not a disaster - I say go for Bertrand from Southampton. HG, Chelsea academy product, international class and will improve the squad - plus will cost only £30 million or so.

Almost smells a bit of tapping up.

Although i don't usually give much credence to stuff coming out of Sky Italia, this has the feeling of truth to it. Iirc, Juve kept jacking-up the price along the way (making the deal less desirable from Chelsea pov), and with Bonucci a surprise departure, it was a slim hope I guess, that they'd sell Sandro as well.

Ideally we now have Bakayoko, Kante and Fabregas for central midfield. With Fabregas playing anything unlike the other two. So who's our 4th backup player for central midfield position if either Bakayoko or Kante gets injured?

Nobody. Not even a youth player.

What a pathetic state. And we are still looking to sell Matic.

And in a season with 20-30% more available matches to play in all competitions.

What's going on in the head of the club? What's the thinking process sometimes. And before securing any signings we place Costa and a useful Matic in the discard bin.

Talk about being over dramatic.

Kante, Bakayoko, Fabregas as the three senior players. Then there's options between Baker, van Ginkel and Pasalic who could be a fourth option from within. Possibly even fifth, depending if Matic is actually sold or not.

Pasalic did well for AC Milan, while Baker has been a regular over his two years in Holland and now at an age where he could contribute here.

We may even bring in another player. There's still weeks ahead of us before the squad is finalised.

All this is unnecessary doom and gloom at this point.

Well, this isn't telling the whole truth, is it? Kenneth Omeruo and Michael Hector are both capable of playing the DM role, and have done in the past. Both are still training at Cobham. Certainly either could step in if we needed them to, if they stay for the season. In addition, we also have Boga and Passalic as AM options, and both are still training at Cobham as well, as far as I'm aware.

I would also have absolutely no doubts that Azpilicueta can sit in and hold, and we already know from watching him do it a few season's ago, that Luiz can do likewise.

So no "pathetic state' then? No real issue? No, not really. My guess is that some serious decisions are going to be made on tour, just like always.

This is being a tad disingenuous though, isn't it? Matic wants to go, as opposed to "we're looking to sell" (what a bunch of morons we have running the cub - getting rid of Matic!). He's been tapped up (obviously) and wants to join Jose who's been whispering in his ear. That's why he's off training by himself.

Costa placed himself in the discard bin as we already know, and I've already given you the reason for Matic above. So, asked and answered then, and no real mystery here. Cheers!

I doubt Saints will sell at £30 million. Fully expect them to ask more if we bid for Bertrand.

About right about everything here except the bit in bold.

Sure, there are a few youth options but that in no way nullifies your point.

An already thin squad which Conte didn't think could compete at the start of LAST season has gone on to lose Ivanovic, Oscar, Mikel, Terry, Ake, Begovic, Chalobah and sent Ruben Loftus Cheek out on loan.. Meanwhile we are also set to lose Matic and Costa as well!

And who have we brought in? Kante, Luiz, Michy, Caballero, Alonso and Rudiger and we may or may not conclude deals for a couple others as well by the look of things.

We are in serious danger next season IMO.

Morning Campers – hi-di-hi

That was the week that was

The manager and players returned for pre-season

Academy players were loaned out or jumped ship on the cheap

No1 striker told to go forth and find another club

Midfielder to he cannot go to the far east and find another club

On the recruitment side, the cronies have kept their card close to their chest, to the annoyance of the media especially Jim White the face of Sky. With that said the Cronies are actively trying to recruit a midfielder who is currently injured and unable to train until August

On the Jim White rumor side,

The club are in negotiations to bring in an aging striker from Germany who is not exceptional and overpriced to replace the club No1 strike who been told to go forth

On the playing side, the club are off to the Far East with a bag of liquorish Assorts for further assessment and tears.

On the Contracts side, the cronies and manager seem unable to reach an agreement on extending his contract which does not bode well, especially as with the current depletion of the playing staff
