We surely could have made an offer larger than that? Whether the player would have moved here is unknown, but I'd like to think we would have gone in with something.

not for £300,000 per week

If nothing drastic happens in the next few hours I hope Conte walks. He's going to get sacked anyway and he doesn't deserve that.

It doesn't have to be all or nothing though.

What is it, 12 managers under Romans tenure? If only he was as ruthless with the infamous transfer committee as he was with his managers.

That is clearly over the top to suggest. 4 signings in addition to Drinkwater was never going to happen.

If we are going to continue playing with wing-backs we need at least one new wing-back, preferably a LWB as Azpi can deputise on the other side.

For the front three we also have Musonda, and I think we need only 1 and not 2 signings there. Even if they are completely different, both Mahrez and Llorente would give us good options to mix and match in the front three. 7 versatile and different players for 3 positions should be sufficient.

LWB (Alex Sandro/Bertrand/Rose), CM (Drinkwater) and AM/CF (Llorente/Mahrez) would give us a great squad. Chances of that happening: Slim.

Tense times.

Very true, however, arguably some of those spots could have been filled with a mixture of the below, and thus allowing us to concentrate on trying to fill a smaller amount of squad positions and with more money for each of those signings which then increases the quality of player we could have been looking at/allowed us to offer higher earlier to get an offer accepted.

Ake - back up LWB and 4th choice CM
RLC - 4th choice CM and AM
Chalobah - 4th choice CM
Matic - 4th choice CM, until we found and signed a 4th choice CM
Traore - 4th choice AM and 3rd choice ST
Pasalic - 4th choice CM
Baker - 4th choice CM

Not all world beaters and not all wanted to be here, but surely it's worth having a couple of the above around to give us viable back up options, if only for the cup games.

I'm not suggesting we should have had to sign 4 more players, I'm saying realistically they are the places in the squad that need filling now.

Whilst we can all have some sympathy with him, he just has to get on with things and not be a quitter because it dont work out how he/we wanted.

He has a very talented small squad to work with, is very well paid and did a very good job last season.

Just get your head down and get on with the job, show the resilience he had as a player and work with what you have.

If it goes tits up , it wont harm his reputation and he will get paid off handsomely. Quitting because things don't go your way (again) is more damaging to his reputation.

Totally agree with this!

Heheeh guys do u believe chelsea will sign someone? Bruce buck coming to finalise costa transfer

Bruce Buck is a Lawyer so he's probably doing the legal side of the transfer business on who ever Chelsea are trying to buy.

I think Chelsea should recall Tammy Abraham if Swansea don't sell us Llorente, so their buggered without a striker.

Not true. Here's a line from a recent post of your own:

"I mute Bob. He's an arrogant man who is only interested in patronising and insulting people."

That's as flagrantly abusive a post as I've ever seen on here and you've been no stranger to lofty insults yourself on a number of other occasions James.

Secondly, the reason why you might attract the comments you sometimes do is  because of the amount of repetitive repetition you submit and all of it wining about the same issues.

It will attract responses you have to admit.

Yes, it's abusive - BECAUSE HE ABUSED ME AND GOT AWAY WITH IT. How the hell am I meant to respond?
