If that was the purpose of the list then fair enough on Scott and Boga but I think Musonda was highly regarded at the start of his loan which was curtailed by a change of manager and their league position, and then injury. Reports were that he impressed Conte enough to stay as as 5th option which has now become 4th option. True he wouldn't start as Huddersfield straight away, Palmer already played there which helps, but good enough for them to take him on loan I reckon.

Well it was Boga that started a game, not Musonda.
Yes Musonda was highly regarded, before he went on loan, but it was not a success.  This was at Real Betis who got 39 points in 38 games in La Liga - that is not a strong team.   2 things are customary with young players.  All failures are put down to injury.  And any kid put on the first team bench has a positive press pack prepared that makes him look like the next Ray Wilkins.

Boga meanwhile has gone to Birmingham who finished in the championship, 2 points off relegation last year.

This transfer window would've been more palatable even when you consider the number of senior players who left. Over the past 12 months we've lost: Mikel, Bran, Oscar, Matic, Terry, to name just a few and lost a number of viable bench options in Ake,Chalobah and RLC.

We've signed a number of get players in Rudiger, Morata, Baka, and now signed a decent (on stats alone) addition in Zappacosta. We also brought back a more experienced Christensen.

The problem is we lucked out last year relying on one of the smallest squads among top four sides (aside from Liverpool). We got lucky with very few injuries and suspension. There was  a serious need of major reinforcement before letting go any player at the end of last season. And now we're looking at, what, at most 2 additions on deadline day. We needed at least 4-5 viable additions to remain competitive. I know there's theoretically still time to complete signings but the club missed mark in this transfer window.

Surely we can't screw this up. Not even we're that inept are we?

You're begging the question: why do you assume the club wants to sign Drinksomethig to begin with? Maybe the club has opted for austerity strategy.

Right now, if two of our midfielders get injured or suspended, we have Luiz in midfeld for every game. In every competition. Academy players on the bench in every game.

Goodness me. We'll be lucky to qualify for the knockout stages of the CL and even be in title contention come January.

Embarrassing. Just so so awful.

Well if Conte likes a challenge he has now got one.

Goals will be our problem. Neither Morata or Bats or Remy are dead-eyed dicks. Bats is probably the most prolific if that's the right word. We don't have a 15 goal a season midfielder so I'm hoping we'll scrape an awful lot of 1 nils. We are totally at the mercy of injuries in our front line so luck will play a big part. Let's just get on with it and hope we can shut some of those cock sure loud mouthed feckwits up from Liverpool and Spurs.

At least no one can accuse us of buying titles anymore.
