Pastore to West Ham for £17.5 Million...

Surely that's the sort of deal we should be looking at?

Until, that is, we announce a deal like that, these boards would be going nuts about how we have no ambition and the penny pinching board are bringing us to relegation.

Don't be surprised if the transfer fund is shut down at the moment

Specifically Courtois but applicable to any player at the WC.

Every WC a "star" appears according to the media and inflated prices are quoted...the likes of TC are hoping..betting.. that they have a good WC and get in a good negotiating position.

So a hectic couple of days, but sadly only meaning less clarity and more insecurity than before. Why am I not surprised?

Three days ago, everyone seemed to "know" that Sarri would be our manager. Now, nobody has a clue – it can be Blanc, Zidane, Sarri. Even Avraam Grant. Yeah right. Courtois is rumoured to be off. So we are going to have to trust Marina to get another deal done as well. Meanwhile our competitors are signing players that their managers want. We are lagging massively behind, and there is a WC ending mid July and we of course have 12 first team players in the squad, and our future signings are likely to be in the tournament as well. The season starts record early and we play City in the CS August 5.

It is going to be a messy transfer window and a messy pre-season. The new manager will start the PL season with his most important first team players out of shape physically and not adapted tactically.

We can only hope Marina stops penny-pinching and actually get deals done this summer.

That's always supposing there are pennies to pinch.

We paid £15m for Barkley and £35m for Drinkwater, Pastore is certainly well ahead of both of those. However, he'll be 29 later this month and that would essentially rule him out from the clubs perspective. I think we could, and have done, a lot worse. If the club wants to do down the inexpensive route, he's an option I suppose.
