Eidur played up front that game and combined brilliantly with JFH. I seem to remember Lamps scored his first goal for us - a a nice 20 yarder. Back then most of us were thinking he was a decent signing, maybe a bit overpriced.....

Different game.

He was talking about 2005/06 when we were 1-0 down at HT and Eidur came on at half time and we won 5-1. Drogba 2, Lamps 2 and Eidur 1.

You are thinking of us beating Bolton 5-1 in 2001/02 when Lamps scored his first PL goal for Chelsea. Bolton lead, but we were ahead by HT

Hmmm. This isn't the first time Icardi has found himself in trouble. Great striker but I don't think his character is something that should be introduced to the Chelsea dressing room at this moment in time.

Cheers. I'm mixing up our 5-1 comeback home wins over Bolton featuring Eidur and Lamps!

Agreed. Too many stories and too much fuss for me. There is probably a reason why no club activated his 100m buyout last summer after he had scored 29 serie a goals. And for me I am always skeptical towards CFs that scores a lot while their team is underperforming.

I remember some very mixed feelings on Lamps when signed and also a bit into his first season. Remembering ambkling about to the left of a 4-4-2 diamond and not shining exactly.

But he sort of found his feet in the spring and kicked on massively from there.

For the £11m he must be right up there with one of the very best signings we've ever made.

Yes, but remember that was a lot of money for us back then under Bates.  And for a player who was in dispute with his club which had just sacked his father and uncle.  It was a bold call by Ranieri, backed by Bates.

I'd go further. He is the best signing we've ever made.

It's weird because I don't think of Frank as a signing. He was born to wear blue.

He was born to wear Claret, light blue and white shorts.  Unlike cousin Jamie who was born for a quick deal and went to Spurs and then Daddy At Bournemouth.

Frank is our adopted son.  And it would be fair to say that Chelsea Blue represents Frank Lampard as much as the other way around.
