The wages are too high and clubs know that in the end we have to loan these players so they just wait for a loan instead of paying the 'market value' for a player. So the loan army becomes self-perpetuating, even though we're no longer buying players for the loan stables, every time a first team signing doesn't work out we'll struggle to sell the player.

Bakayoko and Morata are our best case scenarios - hope they make a good impression on loan so the loan club is willing to pay Chelsea's price. Otherwise only a player can force a move, if he's willing to forego Chelsea wages.

It's also a case of the club trying to maximise their ability for a profit on a player before having to sell them completely. If they can demand decent loan fees while also having a percentage of wages subsidised by the team loaning an individual from us, then the cost for us becomes minimal. Do that a couple times per player and suddenly we're looking at possibly doubling our profit if we were to just sell them outright immediately.

Of course, not all of our loans follow that process. Loaning out someone like Morata for example like we have gives us a good chance of making back most of our money we foolishly spent to begin with. If we were to have just straight up sold him, we'd probably be looking at losing £20-30 million of the value we paid. If Atletico for example decline to buy him outright for the £46m or so we agreed in his loan, then we've still made money off his loan fee while having his wages largely covered during that time away. If we then loan Morata out again elsewhere we'll collect another loan fee, have his wages covered in part or full, and once more include a similar sort of outright option to buy. That would further help recover our costs. Etc etc.

The downside is that we end up having a lot of money tired up in players who aren't at the club and able to contribute.

Does anyone watch him there, and is he playing deeper as he did in his early better games for us?

I went to Milan - Cagliari at the san Siro a couple of weekends back

He was ok, but the standard overall was poor. So much more time on the ball there than you get in the PL but at least he managed to control and pass the ball, something that he completely forgot how to do for us by the end

If (lets face it most Championship are paying their club captain wages similar to our young wannabees, and Vitesse are paying peanuts).   And if we ignore the wages before they get loaned out, and if we ignore the failures and just look at the successes.

Aina is 22.  How many in his year group are we making money out of net and how many are we losing on?

(Still congratulations this time basing your argument on a confessed hypothetical instead of a bald inaccurate statement.)

Thanks - control eh, pass eh, well that is two improvements.

After last nights result in Madrid I guess there will be a few Galactico’s being shown the door this summer.

I wonder how many will be offered for Hazzard.

Comments on Bale are appearing quite a lot in the press, seems the fans are on his back. He doesn't want to leave but when the club needs a scapegoat.................

He’s the last player I want at the club.

He’s well past his sell by date. unfortunately history shows these are the attributes for the board to sign him.

You are going to have to give up making stuff up if you want to hang on to any credibility in future.

Well I would think Eto’o, Falcao, Higuain, Pato, Pizarro and Shevchenko immediately spring to mind!!!
