100m euros sounds more than 88m pounds. So I guess the Club should spin the higher figure to make us look like we negotiated hard and got a good deal.

Even 88m is a good deal. We have got no bargaining chips. The player himself has made it public he wants to go, the club has nothing to offer to change his mind, his contract is run down... 88m if true is a great deal.

Real Madrid could have very easily low balled us IMO.

Personally I'd be quite surprised to see a Hazard deal officially announced before any CAS news was... Not that reporting matters, as I'm sure any Hazard deal has been in need of nothing more than a dotted I and crossed t for a while.

I don't know ... maybe we were using the lack of being able to spend the  money as a bargaining tool ? "Sorry Madrid , we're prepared to hold out for what we want , we can't even replace him"

Telegraph suggesting we have now lodged an appeal with CAS but not asked for a delay in the punishment while the appeal is heard in case we get a 3 window ban instead of just a 2 window ban.

Maybe the club is putting in a buy back option.

You could argue that we don't really need the money, while it would be nice to have, so we could hold out until next year and let him go on a free. I'm pretty sure he doesn't hate London THAT much and being a reasonable guy he just might stick around until we can sign replacements again.

So according to SSN and other sources we've accepted £88m rising to £130m with add-ons. Not too bad, assuming the add-ons are achievable within a reasonable time. Namely the full season where we aren't able to buy anyone to replace him.

This is all fine and dandy but we cannot replace him and for the past two seasons our whole attacking strategy has been, give it to Hazard and hope he produces some magic. For me, we now have no goals in us whatsoever. At the rate this is going we will be having Morata running around up front next season as he has a call back.
