Atalanta are fourth in Serie A. Pasalic has scored 7 goals and assisted a further 7 in 25 starts in the CL and Serie A.

For comparison Mount had 9 goals and 5 assists in 39 Championship starts last season, Gallagher has 6 goals and 9 assists in 34 Championship starts so far this season.

If you think the Championship is on par with Serie A you’re on drugs.

Err, bit unnecessary don't you think? :-(

The 15m clause was in place last season and they took him on loan again with the same arrangement, presumably paying a further fee to delay buying him to this summer. His career previously was fairly average so would have been a decent deal two years ago, given he has been on loan to Monaco, Spartak, AC Milan etc I'm guessing we have done pretty well on picking up small loan fees and not paying any wages on him. Also I imagine part of the reason he has as many assists is that he plays in a very high scoring team. For example whoever laid it off to him before he bends one in from 30 yards gets an assist, even though they didn't necessarily 'create' the goal. Could be the same with his team mates. He has been directly involved in 14% of their league goals, so not exactly the attacking fulcrum of the team.

The bottom 10 of Serie A is on a par with the bottom 10 of the championship.  Top 3 might be on a par with top 4 in the prem at times.
You only have to look at the budgets.
They are similar performances scored against similar opponents with the difference being that on is 24/25, the others 19/20.

It is great he is doing well though, and if we get £12.5m that will justify his earlier contract extensions.

£12,5m for a player that performs so well at the top of Serie A is pretty far from being good business on our behlf. It is ludicrous.

As for the comparison between Serie A and the Championship, agree to massively disagree.

It isn't top of serie A though, is it.  His serie A goals have come in 5 games Atalanta all won at a net score of 20-1.

And he isn't a key goal scorer or creator.  Scoring 5 in 20 starts sounds impressive but Atalanta have scored 70 in 25 Serie A teams.  The average for an outfield player is 0.28 goals per game or 5.6 in 20 starts.  Pasalic at 5 goals then is just below par for an Atalanta outfielder!  And just above par for assists.  And yet he plays as midfielder that gets forward.

This is all getting a touch pointless. Pasalic is a decent player, but he is no better than what we have already. There isn't much point getting too worked up about him being moved on.

Yep. Pretty sure Ross Barkley would have similar stats in that team.

With the state of our squad, and the new loan rules coming in too, its time to move the older loanees on and invest the funds in genuinely improving the 1st team squad

Below average in the team? What are you on about, some players (strikers hello???) and attacking mids score more than defenders. Novel I know but there you go. He’s also not an attacking mid. He’s part of the two holding mids with one AM and two strikers ahead of him. It would be like arguing Kovacic isn’t very good because he hasn’t scored 20 goals.

As for not top of the Serie A... They are six points behind Inter who’s spent quite a bit of dosh. They are top four and through in the CL. How is that not “top”? You’re not making any sense at all.

He's scored 2 and assisted 2 in the CL as well. A top competition when it suits you, rubbish when it suits you. One thing is crystal clear, you massively overrate the Championship.

Edit: They won against Valencia 4-1 at home. How have we, as a top four PL team, performed in a similar fixture?

Does that make us top of the Prem?

Palasic looks like a replacement for Savic if Lazio sell.
