How very bizarre.

Asset stripping of the relegated pl clubs in full swing. Chelsea not looking at any.

12m for ramesdale seem peanuts and would lessen the burden of paying over the top this summer for a keeper

Dippers are buying another left back from a relegated club. Remember the last left back the signed from a relegate club

Ake gone to chity “we don’t need him”

Not saying we should do all our shopping at the bargain basement store, however some of the above do have pl experience which is invaluable.

I genuinely don't think Ake would have improved us at all. Mostly, I'd worry that he's too small/not physical enough to change anything for our backline. Not such a problem at City where you don't have to do much defending and can play next to the 2nd best CB in the league. He'll be a fine squad player at City but I can't see him ever being anything more.

I really like Sarr at Watford and Buendia at Norwich but again, I'm not sure they'd ever be more than squad players for us with the players we have coming in this summer. Grealish is very good but never worth what Villa will want for him. Other than that, I'm a bit indifferent to the players that got relegated - some great value to be had by teams lower down the table, but not much that would improve Chelsea.

Playing devils advocate here, maybe the fact they have no money and Willian is available for no transfer fee is forcing them in to making a bad deal just to get a body through the door? I can't help but feel that was the situation when they realised Luiz was available on the cheap last summer.

Don't forget that Luiz and Willian still own a central London restaurant together so that will have played a big part in both choosing their next clubs.

Yeah makes perfect sense for them and their personal lives.

As alluded to above, Ake is going in as a back up option for City. Given they are both left footed I would assume he is basically cover for Laporte. It is incredibly rare to see 2 LCB playing together and neither player would have any real experience playing on the right side all the way back to their formative years. We might see them play together every now and then but I can't imagine a long term Laporte-Ake combo the balance doesn't feel right.

For us I don't see Ake as an upgrade on anything we already have. He certainly doesn't add the leadership, height or physicality we need. There are deeper issues at hand and I really hope SFL doesn't genuinely believe its just a personnel issue at the back like he's been saying. Our four CBs are not bad players whilst Zouma and Rudiger are clearly physically capable. It's clearly an organisational issue and evidently one that Derby had major problems with last season.

It's been mentioned on here quite a few times but the inexperience of the whole coaching staff is becoming apparent. Perhaps the best move we can do this summer is bring in an experienced set-piece specialist. Wonder how much it would cost to get Steve Holland back.

Still?  I suspect it has been closed down or soon will be.

So Cech spent 4 years or so driving around the M25 from Cobham to Colney most days.  Not sure it makes a lot of sense (though I gather his kids were settled in a local school).
The smart move would be moving to Colney in which case he might as well move anywhere in Europe.

Yup.  Indeed the No 2 coach at pretty much any PL club of the past 10 years would be a great help.

Bit behind the curve over here but if the Willian tf is a done deal..or even if genuinely quoted.... I can't get the sense in a three year deal for a player of his age..and type...

Felt Chelsea were being really generous with a two year deal ....usually it is off to China or MLS for retirement "bonuses".not North London.

I think Arsenal fans have a lot to worry about here; not the Willian deal itself but what it further demonstrates about the hold Kia Joorabchian has over that club. Him and Sanllehi are close and it looks to me like the redundancies might be partly cover for a purge of all other football, and likely dissenting, voices at the club. They are getting rid of some of their most experienced and successful scouts and increasingly only bringing in players with links to Joorabchian; many of them older and commanding very high wages and golden handshakes that their Joorabchian himself gets a bit cut of.

They will get Coutinho this summer, too. Put money on it. Some will worry about that, and he likely will be a decent option short term but it will be another indication of a club rotting from the inside out.

Sanllehi and Joorabchian are apparently responsible for wanting to sell Maitland-Niles from under Arteta's feet. I think he's a decent player and that it might be worth having a look. The last Arsenal full back called Ashley we brought in did all right ...

Yep, Maitland-Niles always looks decent when I see him , £30 m instead of £80M for Chilwell seems a bargain

Really? Even the Arsenal fans I know don't think Maitland-Niles is that good and nobody knows which position he plays

He was very good against us recently I thought , in this day and age £30m for a left back is a snip . I will ask my Gooner mates to see what they think .

Maybe that's my issue ... I try to avoid talking to the Arsenal fans I know!
