We both know that’s not how it works. At best West Ham will reach out to Rudiger’s people first of all, before they even contemplate talking to Chelsea.

The days of a manager offering players to other clubs are long gone.

In actual bids, perhaps, but the whole point being that Rudiger's people would be telling them very early how much he earns and what they would need to up it to.  End of discussion.

In this case hacks just look at a deal they predicted and think of a new way to write the story of how it failed to happen or in this case what is holding it up.  WHU wanting Rudiger is a quite unimaginative way to prolong the story, and requires no evidence.

If we look at Luiz to Arsenal, that seems to be a deal pushed on Luiz by Chelsea, and the convincing argument seems to have been not Arsenal attracting Luiz, but Chelsea saying we don't want you any more.  Unlike JT or Ivanovic or Cahill, he did at least get to play his last season here rather than sit on the sidelines for a year.

Diddymen

I am not sure Rice will solve our defensive issues. Also, can we stop with the buying of players for the season until we sort out how we’re going to bed in the news ones first

Rumors of Utd bid for Kante. Any thoughts? My opinion is a no. Kante is the only midfield steel who can actually defend now.

Obvious no for me.

Rice in the team for WHU tonight.
3rd start in 3 PL games.  I can't see him moving now we are in the last week of window.

He's too good to drop if your Moyes who doesn't want him to go but one of the only saleable assets  if you're Sullivan, Gold and Brady.

I can see it happening with Rudiger going the other way.

Would be a good deal Mark without the "position" argument for or against Rice...a useable upgrade and the moving of a rumoured unsettling influence in the dressing room?

I think the board would just tell the manager "we are expecting £XXm from Chelsea on him next week, don't pick him."
I think Rudiger would refuse.
Rudiger is not going to a smaller club.

No. Especially to Utd.
