Club announce new stadium plans

What is wrong with getting a brand spanking new stadium. It's not like we are paying for it. If Roman is deciding between a new yacht or a new stadium, I know which I would prefer him to buy.

..I was discussing stadiums with a gooner recently and we both felt that the older stadium inherently gave the best atmosphere due to their dna and history. New stadia have an antiseptic fake feel to them or am I just being an old sentimentalist?

You are 100% correct and the Emirates is one of the worst new stadiums in terms of atmosphere. In fairness to them I believe they are trying to rearrange where some people sit to try and improve the atmosphere.

One of the reasons I like the look of our new stadium so much is that it's a little left-field and not anything like any of the modern day soulless bowls that everyone seems to build these days.

The issue with an oval is that there isn't a defined home end. At least our new stadium is more of a rectangle. With a little planning we can avoid the mistakes made by Arsenal, West Ham and Man City.

People who want to stand and sing for 90 minutes should be placed together behind the goal. Anyone offended by swearing should sit on the sides. Fans' initiatives are very important nowadays.

From The Standard:

Chelsea have been talking to investment banks about acquiring a loan to help finance the building of their new stadium.

Chelsea were granted planning permission back in January to build a new 60,000 all-seater ground at their current Stamford Bridge site. The initial cost of the project was forecast to be £500million but experts say that amount is a conservative figure.

While owner Roman Abramovich is a multi-billionaire, the club are not expecting him to meet all the costs.

As Standard Sport revealed in May, the club are in talks with companies willing to pay for naming rights in order to generate more revenue.

Hopefully not a generation of little investment in the squad in order to fund the building work. Arsenal are still suffering from their decision in 2000. Spuds are looking to repeat, hopefully we won't be next.

Nothing we don't know already but packaged in a bite size chunk.
