Squad Status: 2019/2020 Season

Recommended Posts

New PL squad announced for rest of the season.
Includes Cahill, Drinkwater, van Ginkel, Zappacosta and Piazon.

24 + Apadu + CHO - Five who are unlikely to be seen.

Not nearly as big as it looked at the start of the season.

Not so much house cleaned as an awful lot has been swept under the carpet.

Hasn't Piazon left on loan?

I thought he just came back last week.

He's at Chievo and is out of contract at the end of the season so will probably never be back.

Just long enough to be named in the PL squad it seems.

Lots of talk that both Reece James and Ola Aina are being considered for the first team squad next season.

Don't know how true it is, but thought I'd share.

Certainly from what I have seen and read of Reece James, he is top class player.

When a Championship team gets its teenaged loaned FB to take its penalties, you know he's made a massive impression.

As with Tammy, I don't want him to be at the Bridge until the club is ready to start him 20 times in the season.  I really don't mind if Ake or Chalobah was asked to sit on our bench for a season, but it is in everyone's interest that these two continue playing.   CHO and Ampadu next season too.

The bottom six or so PL sides are not much stronger than the best sides in the Championship, so he should be able to play in those. Plus with domestic cup games, European games (even in the CL there is noramlly at least one weak side) you should be able to find at least 15 starts

I'm not saying there isn't room for one young player making 15 starts.  CHO has made 12 so far.

But there are an awful lot of players in the squad to disappoint whatever happens.
So when it comes down to it, you have to ask the manager "will you given guy >15 starts" because if not he needs to be elsewhere.
The question is quite different for Caballero, Giroud or Zappacosta, or even Christensen now.
