Sir

Official: Antonio Conte Appointed As New Manager

Recommended Posts

Right now, it looks like Conte will be gone well before the season finishes. He just doesn't want to be here anymore, knows he's going - and the players all know, and have stopped playing for him. Hazard certainly has. It's impacting our results too.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if Carlo is in charge before, or just after, Barcelona.

IMO Conte could be one bad result from the sack. How did it come to this?

Not now.
Even a non-football board must have worked out he has done wonders to keep the players going so well, and it will be a big struggle from now on.  Especially a non-football board with direct access to the medical staff and hearing the real issues.

But I think we should thank the manager and board for making the outlook so gloomy.  All that success last season was killing CFCnet.  I should think posting has gone up 500% in the last month.

The same guy the club  sacked in the corridor at an away game? That Carlo? Because he received a couple of free tickets for one of our home games recently? Surely not!

Yes.  I'd have said the free tickets were proof positive that there are no plans to bring in Carlo this year.  True he is a pushy and self-promoting man, who published an autobiography that boasted he had privately advised RA how to run the club which came out a few months before he took the job.  And he bragged that he was the new PSG manager a month or two before they sacked the previous one.
But the club at least are discrete.

On Carlo, he got sacked because we got just 71 points in the season - the lowest points total we had got since RA arrived, and with a team that won the PL a year earlier and the CL a year later.   Ranieri got 79, and every other manager got 83+.  Every manager that has got (or was on target to get) less than 80 points has been sacked by the club.

We are on target for 78 points (though with tiredness that might be a struggle).
I can see RA saying that 78 points is not enough (though tough given the players numbers).
I can't see him taking CA back.

Gosh I'm not saying Carlo will be in charge or that I want him. I was just speculating....FFS.

I want us to employ a manager who plays good football, wins trophies and gives youth a chance. Not just the next 'supercoach' in line. The club need a manager who fits with their vision - and to me their vision is good football and young players coming through and being bought, winning major trophies.

Find a manager who can do that - then give him time to build a team.

So you think that the club really has a vision?

What I don't understand with AC is this......He clearly appreciates the squad is thin, particularly in attacking areas. he has alluded to this on many occasions. Why then did he/we

1. Take the LC seriously? Of all the 4 trophies, it carries little or no prestige or importance

2. Compound the small squad problem by not making use of the squad he does have

Antonio was complaining about fatigue after the 0-0 on Saturday, but he used 9 of the same starters, with one of the changes being at centre half. Pedro and Willian could and should have started at least one of the Arsenal and Leicester games.

I strongly believe that using a full squad in the league cup has already costs us 4 points in the league. I simply don't get it. When Jose took over in 2004 I understood it. A team not used to winning trophies needed to win a trophy. Now though.....it is bonkers.

Then you do want a super coach.. a dream coach.. most seem to get 2 of the above right.. apart from Fergie who is the best ever.. I just want a coach who wins trophies and any other is just an add on for me.. Conte for the most part fills but this season its as if he is working with one hand tied behind his back...
