Regarding the many and varied posts on Sarri's note taking... anybody considered that is's a substitute for the 40+ a day cigarettes he used to smoke in Italy?

Erm... Yes.  Me.  That's precisely what started this discussion.

All of which begs the question, if writing is a substitution for smoking, what is the psychological purpose of smoking so much?

Are you asking what makes cigarettes addictive?

Nobody knows. One thing for sure is, if you are addicted to something, a lot of your mental energy is focused on acquiring and consuming that thing. There is little mental resources energy left for anything else. And changing a team strategy is mentally demanding.

I thought managers take note so that they can remember the things that need changing, improving, or introducing. The only changes I see from Sarri is that Ross Barkley may sometimes come on a couple of minutes later to replace Kovacic,  and vice versa.

I get different answers whenever I ask aboit cigarette addiction. We all know nicotine makes you a little bit high. But it doesn't tell the whole story.

I always thought it was the physiological effects of nicotine. It's an addictive taste for sure.

Here's an official pointer from the NHS:
