Somebody is leaking a lot of information on the content of their private messages, so I question the motive behind that. Will wait to hear more detail as the reports sound as if they are trying to be intentionally misleading, but at the moment it does not sound good.

Indeed

My Sister rejected him on both occasions haha.

Smart lady.  Young men with a lot of cash are in need of good judgement.  Young ladies, with or without cash, even more so.

It's the Mail reporting it, and it is an allegation (if the woman actually has made one and it isn't the Mail just being scum), but it does not look good for Hudson-Odoi. Or us.

Quite, but all kinds of allegations get made in certain situations.  Given what we have heard of the background and the texting there would seem very little chance of a successful prosecution even if the young lady is simply a model.  But a big police inquiry all the same.  With two daughters around CHO's age, I am very protective towards victims.  But equally furious with abuse of sexual assault claims for personal or political motives (Assange, Salmond for example).

I notice the mail do not comment on whether the pair were seen together in Dubai

Well that could be either of them, and the motive would be key.

If only for posterity, I'll try to be careful here on my immediate position.

On the player ... He is a young man earning vast sums of money, and at that a young black man earning vast sums of money. He seems, if it doesn't sound weird, very black to boot. I mean that in a good way; he is unashamedly, and proudly black. These are the exact traits that make you a target for unscrupulous tabloid writers and publications, who don't care much about truth and prefer instead to rush a story out.

On the crime or the allegation ... I hope we (not just you and I or even the forum, but just society as a whole) can begin to fully accept that rape and sexual assault is an overwhelmingly under-reported and under-recognised crime. There are instances of deliberate false accusation for personal gain. I feel confident saying they are outliers, and represent a negligible number when compared to actual allegations, never mind the allegations that are never made. Innocent until proven guilty is a fine criminal and legal perspective but I've always felt it is misappropriated and actually harmful when it is used in general, daily life. The long legacy of not believing victims I think puts an onus on them to believe them now. My starting point is, with very few exceptions, to believe the woman (and it is usually a woman). That isn't the same as starting from a point of thinking the man (again, it is usually if not always a man) should be convicted. If it becomes clear this woman has alleged she was raped, I'll believe her unless there is really, really, really significant reason not to.

On our situation ... In a sense, none of the above matters. Unless this story dies in the next two or three days and as a direct result of it becoming clear there was never an allegation of rape made, we have a wicked problem in how to respond.

The page I used for info has retracted that it was the Instagram model that they thought, with the quotes from the messages. Their source now confirms it was a high class escort called Bella.

I agree with all of that.  But make one point - the vast majority of cases of sexual assault get no publicity.  This case is already different.

I agree. If it's proven he has laid hands on her, he should be shipped out of the club immediately. Other clubs may well welcome footballers who beats up women. We should be, and are, a damn sight better than that I'd hope.

Hopefully just a storm in a tea cup.

Just what I was thinking. Piers Morgan though isn't the brightest man walking this planet.

Don't know what you're basing that on.  He's a controversial figure but I would say that he is extremely bright.

"Laid hands" well I agree that is the issue,   But the Sun says "The model was taken to hospital after complaining of feeling unwell."

so that doesn't seem to be the case.  Frankly this is exactly what one might expect to happen when you give some young lad mega bucks a week.  And at least part of the story seems to have been fed to the press by the girl and neighbours  *
I feel sorry for CHO, my minimum expectations for his behaviour are pretty low other than keeping out of the press.  He should choose his methods and neighbours more carefully.

My only real surprise is that there are only a handful of PL players getting into trouble and half the cases are about playing footie in the park.

And if I wasn't already on CHO's side over thie:
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-8330463/Piers-Morgan-leads-calls-Chelsea-idiot-Callum-Hudson-Odoi-BANNED-breaking-lockdown.html

*  The reporting highlights my point elsewhere about Neil Ferguson.  Famous person gets caught shagging stories invariably come out through phone calls to the Sun hotline.  His story came out in a clearly well prepared briefing to that smut rag, the Daily Telegraph.  He was being pushed out by the government.

Also in the sun, it's not bad enough to have teenage stars on megabucks sitting around doing nothing, now we might have one called Bogarde.

Seriously?? I would never have thought that even conceivable.  RA was here in the final year of the Bogarde contract.

Edit - I see there are two brothers.  3 years ago, we and 3 other top Prem clubs were reported to be "about to sign" the other brother.
I'm guessing this is more about an active agent than a talented player.
