Funny to see comments suggesting RLC could have easily been injured in training. Yes he could have but he wasn't. He was injured in a meaningless game on a cabbage-patch pitch.

Friendly, yes.

Meaningless? Far from it.

Haha, people will find any way to blame old Maurizio.

The responsibility lies with those who arranged this exercise at a ridiculous point in our schedule. Can you imagine Liverpool or Spurs doing this before the Champions League final and getting one of their key players injured?

By all means support charity games. But there’s a time and a place.

Sarri was likely under instruction to play a strong team. But that’s no excuse for risking Loftus Cheek who’s been clearly struggling with getting through games of late.

Where have you seen me disagree about the timing? It is unfortunate but I'd say the powers that be (Roman) probably didn't bank on us getting to the final and have had this booked in for a while. Therefore the game would have been a post season friendly.

You're not cancelling a trip to the States given what the cause the game was in aid of.

And it's not as if he played RLC from the start though is it? Came on at half time and got injured 24 mins later. The players would need some sort of run out to keep them match fit given how far away the final is.

Not anticipating us getting to the final is a failure of Board management. We were clearly in with a decent shout.

Once we were committed to take part then it’s down to priorities. Was Sarri instructed to play a strong team? What kind of preparation is it anyway to play a useless American team on a bumpy overgrown pitch?

Loftus Cheek was the most likely to get injured as he’s been recently struggling to finish games. He might have got away with a ten minute cameo. Anything else was a big gamble. Sarri took a chance and the kid ruptured his achilles.

In the end, we’re a football team that should be preparing for a big game. Not travelling half way round the world for a charity game on a dodgy pitch.

'Final whistle on hate'. Yes, we're really going to solve all of the world's ills by playing on a rubbish pitch against crap opposition. It doesn't get more low profile than that.

Maybe Roman just felt like organising a game he can actually attend?

At this rate Drinkwater will even be on the bench.

He'll need to catch the bus down to Cobham though.

Also to what extent are the injuries of Rudiger and Kante down to being overplayed and Sarri’s well known aversion to rotating his squad?

It has to be said that over the last 10 years or so we've probably had the best record out of the top six of avoiding stress related injuries. But then for most of that time our players were built like tanks.

You may find that our owner organise the event?

I agree with a few others, it was a game the owner could attend..

It was for a good cause but the timing was poor, it should have been after the Europa league final.

maybe it was a last ditch attempt by Roman to try to get hazard to stay or so Roman could tell Sarri that he will be gone after the final..

sarri didn't even go to the memorial, an upset stomach is the excuse being put up, apparently it didn't go down to well
