£150k a week? Even in this market, that is crazy with his injury record.

Would you have preferred he went to another club who were willing to pay that and then chastise the board for not giving him the contract?

We're short of home grown players.............supply and demand.

How much would it cost to buy (plus wages) a replacement who was both good enough, and qualified as home grown?

A lot - but we do need a replacement who is good enough badly.

Along similar lines, Man City are alledgedly buying Nathan Ake. Home grown centre half, can play CB, LB or DM.

Not a bright idea whoever sold him.

Sarri out?

Sold Summer 2017 - need to invent someone else to blame  :)

Does anyone actually believe that City want to buy Ake?  Maybe leak it as a way of scaring Leicester over MacGuire.

I could see them buying him, yes.

Home grown makes him very appealing.

Fo the bench you mean, like Stones.  or they could put him out on loan.   I thought that was the whole reason Ake left us.

Or do you think they might start him regularly?

My guess is it's purely to rattle Leicesters cage with regard to McGuire , other than that , maybe another "home grown" centre half gives them more options in the attacking third in the Champions League which is a bit of a holy grail to them.

well now you've changed the argument from do they want to buy him, and do they want to buy hm and start him regularly*

They will play 60 odd games a season, and in the vast majority, the defenders wont be defending.

* by regularly, do you mean starting away at Liverpool / Barcelona or do you mean the 85% of games when they barely need defenders? He could be first choice reserve (not in their best XI) and still play as many games as he would if he stayed at Bournemouth
