Some nice quick passes at the start. Think Mount and Barkley should have swapped. The front two played well but it felt like Bats had more shots than completed passes!  Looked a bit too eager to impress at times.

Batshuayi should have had a hat-trick!  Nice to see the tempo much faster than the first game. Mount had a good half. Tomori's a big lad, isn't he? Looks to be a better footballer than Zooma... better touch, better passer.

Agree re Tomori, hasnt had a lot to do but looks acomplished when he has, in all quite promising as a spectacle, thou can't see Zappacosta staying, or would be surprised if he does.

Half time 2-0. Much better integrated performance albeit against a more passive opponent. Mount has stood out. Bats got his goal but has been terribly selfish. Not really made for a two up front. DL has shown his class whereas even these opponents still seem too fast for Barkley's brain.

But harsh calling Batshuayi selfish. He's a striker, he's taken shots on goal he should be taking for the most part. While he's not quite had the success, he's at least worked the keeper with some regularity.

A refreshing change of pace considering how allergic our players have been in recent years with taking shots on goal, preferring to try and walk the ball into the net.

Agreed... I'd rather a striker attempting shots and not scoring because it's still early in pre-season than one being in a position to shoot but opting to pass

The look on Frank's face when Bakayoko needlessly gives the ball away then gives away the free kick  trying to get it back

Self selecting squad reduction in action perhaps ?

Being single minded is one thing but he has never struck me as a "thinking" footballer. He is the quinessential fox in the box. Most of his attempts missed the target and in more than a couple of instances the better option was to lay it off. I won't argue that he is our next best option after Giroud but what I am saying is that he is not ideally suited to being in a two.

If there was a choice between Bakayoko and Mount for the final squad spot I really don't think there is any thinking to be done.
