My only prediction is Frank will still be our manager this time next year.

Barring a disaster of epic proportions, I agree with you.

I see us finishing 5th or 6th. BUT I also believe we are capable of having a truly horrendous season. A few injuries and a bad run could spell disaster for this team as there are so few true leaders in the playing group and we have a really inexperienced manager.

Kante, Rudiger and Willian might keep our heads above water when it gets rough.

Rudi is the only one that I feel has the capability. Kante, great as he is, is a worker bee, while Willian displays a lot of qualities opposite to what one would want to see in a leader.

I really enjoyed the spirit in the group yesterday. After a long time chelsea really looked like a team and not a bunch of individuals.. I am particularly impressed with Mason Mount.. technically he is very good but I think above all he is a very very intelligent footballer.. he has a footballing brain which is evident in his positioning without the ball and his decision making on it.. I can see why Lampard rates his so highly.. he will score atleast 10 goals this season..

Pusilic also terrorized the Liverpool defense.. if not for VVD we would have scored more.. I am worried for Tammy though.. He is desperate to do well and maybe that is why he is not in the zone.. If we can do what we did in Istanbul on a more regular basis we will be in the Top 4.

Tammy to be fair has the hardest job of all the young boys as the lone CF position is both the hardest job on the pitch and really a mans job. For instance both Drogba and Costa did not start operating in that role to a high level until their mid 20's. For me, he is the one that could end up the victim of the ban as I really think another year at Villa was in everyone's best interest. Further, I also think people have the wrong idea as to what type of CF he is, for me he is more of a Torres type CF in that you need him playing between the lines and channels so he can run onto things, rather than a hold up CF. That said, he could develop his hold up play but that will take him a few years still as it is very specialist and demanding.

I recall the Villa manager last season saying they were pleased to have Tammy yet thought he should be scoring more goals.

Re his hold up play it looks to me like he has really long legs and so a high centre of gravity so he might struggle against CBs that recognise that. He might be better to try and swivel and knock it past his man to run onto and create opportunities.

after 5 we are 2 points behind city, I would have taken that given our young team. OK liverpool are 5 ahead of them but we can cut that next weekend

I think our real season will start post the next international phase.. We play City, Arsenal and Spurs in this phase.. having made one point against pool, utd and Leicester... while we have had a good start for a team to develop and cement our position we need to breed a positive arrogance in our play.. which will mean we always go in expecting to win games we have won..which requires time and a good sequence of results.. so the next two games, Watford(A) and Palace(H) both winnable IMO are very important for us to keep the momentum going..

How far we go this season will depend on 3 away games against City, Spurs and Arsenal.. If we can get 4 points of these 3 - and 13 of the other 6.. it will mean we sit at 37 points at half way stage.. which my opinion should set us up for a top 4 finish going by previous year point totals

-- Spurs - 71

-- Pool - 75

-- Pool - 76

-- City - 66

I think we can beat Spurs and Arsenal and even get a draw with City. But it's Chelsea so we will probably do that and then lose to Southampton, Villa and Bournemouth.
