Yes I had the PL in mind and I didn't include Mount.

So with the one exception of Lille who we were expected to beat, we have not won a match where Jorginho/Kante/Kovacic have all started.

How many have there been? One ws City away, which I doubt we would win regalrdess of who was in the 3

Over what sample size?

That's a fair point I can only see two matches where it has been used.

Alonso is normally good against them. He at least has a goal threat.

I'd be tempted to put him in for Emerson if he's fit. He certainly trained today.

I'd be asking him to be a bit more conservative than normal in open play.

Wouldn't disagree with that. As you say, he is/can be a genuine goal threat.

I would be tempted to put Alonso in a midfield position - he has an eye for goal and passes the ball very well but is slow - I wonder who he could replace? perhaps an Italian/Brazilian cardboard cut out?.

I have pondered the idea of bringing him on late to play up front on the left instead of Bats. You would go three at the back so Tammy would still be on and Alonso would effectively become another attacker.

He seems to drift into the box is good in the air and has a decent shooting ability.

Gone back to this, have you?

I thought Lamaprd would have had him out of the team by now?

Blue Rod

As before, I try to look beyond the formation, the tactics, the question of who should be bought or sold, etc. I took myself off the forum for a couple of weeks because I needed to clear my head of what I have been taking in from it.

Basically, Lampard has to look deeper into why so many senior players are performing so poorly. At the start of the season, the young boys were carrying the older players. Now they have joined them in putting in below par performance.

When we are repeatedly outplayed, outrun, outtackled, by teams with inferior players, there has to be a deeper solution than just switching formation. Lampard has get into the dressing room. I know that for Lampard's fanboys, the talk of there being a dressing room dissatisfaction with some.aspects of the manager is heresy. But heresy is what I specialise in.

Play as many defensive players as possible and park the bus.

kepa or willy

azpi,Rudiger,Tomori (or Zouma),Emerson

James,Kante,kovacic,Alonso

mount,Abraham

I've a feeling Jose will have watched past games and Ali will be on Azpis shoulder every time Erikson gets the ball

Eriksen doesn't seem to be in Spurs strongest starting XI. I do feel like we can exploit Dier with our midfield movement.

6 defenders ... I understand wanting to be defensive but that’s over doing it. Reminds me of that Atletico 13/14 game where JM played Azpi at LM. That was painful.

Even with more defensive players I don’t see us parking the bus. We just tend to play on the front foot which I don’t always mind mind but the biggest issue with this game is taking chances. Man for man Spurs have better finishers than us. We might create more but there is a good chance they will take their chances when it comes to them. Not to mention our GK isn’t in the kind of form to save us in matches.
