^ Kante is suspended for this one I believe.

I definitely think we need to change the setup, so I would personally go for:  4-2-3-1

                    Mendy

James*  Zouma Silva Chilwell

          Jorginho. Mount

   CHO.     Havertz.     Pulisic

                 Abraham

A deeper role for Mount, with a view to getting him on the ball for more vertical passes between the lines.  (And also because Jorginho doesn’t have the legs)

CHO deserves a start and Abraham should never have been dropped.

* Assumes RJ has recovered from his hamstring injury

I haven't seen anything in recent weeks to indicate that playing Gilmour could be worse than starting either Jorginho or Kovacic in midfield. The balance has been wrong for a while, so give the kid a go until we get a specialist for the position.

I think Frank has to change systems/formation for this, 433 is clearly not working. CM is our weakest position so when we lose 3 players to it, we just get outnumbered constantly and teams pile through us. I would love to see Gilmour given a game here, I just don't know who best to partner him with. Not sure Kante should be playing right now, his form has fallen off a cliff, but Jorginho and Kovacic aren't offering too much either so maybe Mount - but it looks very lightweight.

Hopefully, Werner plays himself into some form in the FA Cup, if not I'd put Tammy in and I'd stick with CHO until Ziyech proves otherwise, he was poor against Ciy and CHO has probably been our best player in the last few games.

Mendy

James - Zouma - Silva - Chilwell

Mount - Gilmour

CHO - Havertz - Pulisic

Werner

5 at the back cannot see anything else - Frank will play safe

The pitch is like a matchbox and there is very little space, so another diddyman coming back from a serious injury is not needed.

ON the other hand the pitch is ideal for Giroud

Kante should be playing CM, and not playmaker.  No surprise both team and him look bad if he and Zouma are expected to make 100 passes as they have in some games.

Jorginho is playing great - just subject to those pre-conceptions.  He may have fallen out with Frank (why has Frank not played him in front of Kante if he thinks Kante is a DM?).  Or he may be off or angling for a move.  But he hasn't been playing badly.  Unlike Kovacic who has been poor but still would be better used behind Kante than in front.

I think we'd have to agree to disagree on Jorginho, I really don't see that he's played great when he's had the chance to play, but none of the 3 CMs has as none of them seem completely suited to the roles they're being asked to play most of the time, which makes me question, even more, the decision to let Barkley and RLC go - not suggesting they were any better than what we have, but they at least gave us more options in that and the more advanced areas.

I know I'm in a minority on Jorginho - quite happy to be so though.
Barkley and RLC - well now we have Mount, Havertz and Ziyech all wanting to play that role.  Last year and the year before, they (and Kovacic) had a ton of opportunities to play that 8 role, none were ever any good until eventually 2 or 3 games by RLC before his injury (though Kovacic could play deeper).
I can't imagine either getting much starting time with us this year (and with their usual injury records they need to play as often as they can).

I don't know if formation and personnel matter as much here as attitude and approach; we need to press when necessary, drop off when necessary, and make runs when necessary. Sounds easy, but who we pick and where they stand doesn't seem to make much of a difference to these things.
