To be accurate, Lord Acton actually wrote:  Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men, even when they exercise influence and not authority: still more when you superadd the tendency or the certainty of corruption by authority. There is no worse heresy than that the office sanctifies the holder of it”.

Thanks - not seen the full quote.

I would still argue though that systems can reduce corruption.  Transparency helps a great deal.  Equitable voting rights are crucial.
In FIFA and UEFA the structure is that every tiny country gets a vote.  The temptation for the likes of Jack Warner to collect tiny country votes and sell them to the highest bidder (for hosting WC for example) is so great that corruption was inevitable at FIFA, and even entrapped the England WC bid (making all subsequent FA and UK media claims about corruption for the 2018 & 2022 WCs blatant hypocrisy).

Amazingly it was a US judge who said that "Sunlight is said to be the best of disinfectants; electric light the most efficient policeman"

Hopefully nothing too serious, but apparently a tigh issue..

Kante is still injured, Havertz has caught the flu (not covid again luckily) and James is suspended.

That's potentially quite a few key players missing for Saturday.

I think Werner will be fired up and looking to prove everyone wrong.
