Chelsea's Under 18s open their home campaign this Saturday against Southampton. After their opening game defeat at Arsenal, Paul Clement's young charges will be looking to get points on the board and their season off and running, but they will have their work cut out against a traditionally strong Southampton team. Scott Sinclair, Sam Hutchinson, Lee Sawyer, Jack Cork and Ryan Bertrand are all in the England U19 squad to play Belarus.

Adam Phillip, Jacob Mellis and Ben Gordon are all in the England U17 squad to play a friendly tournament.

As Seth Ofori-Twumasi, Michael Woods and Tom Taiwo are all between age groups when they get back from the World Cup they might actually play the occasional game for Chelsea.

Hutchinson won't be going on loan in near future. JM has decided to keep him and allow him to train with the first team squad. But if SH had to go on loan, Plymouth Argyle would be first choice.

"I have heard from Chelsea and they have told me they want to keep Sam in and around their first-team squad. However, they did say that if they let him go anywhere, we would be top of the list because they liked what happened to Scott Sinclair during his time with us."

I'd still expect Hutch to go on loan, even if it's only because he was at the u18 game at the weekend and was talking to someone, as I walked past on the way out I heard him say "when we go on loan" (I didn't interrupt him and whoever he was talking to, that would've been rude), obviously many contexts to take that in but I'd expect this move to go ahead before the window really.

We have rejected the loan of Hutchinson to Plymouth, saying that we want to keep him around the first team for the while.
