alan Report post Posted October 21, 2004 morpheus, R Carlos has a powerful shot, but I wouldnt call him a free kick specialist, more like Row Z specialist lol
Hilario Coimbra Report post Posted October 21, 2004 Well, JT can cetainly play as an attacking CB, but I'm not sure he would be used to playing as a full out striker.
Casey Fleming Report post Posted October 21, 2004 What are you on? When a team has to resort to playing thier best defender or a raw- boned rookie stopper (free kick expert??) as a striker in an attempt to solve goal scoring deficencies.... well, something is going badly wrong. Ranks as the most hairbrained, desperate, non starter of an idea I've heard in a while and if it happens, I would seriously doubt whether the cash paid for my season ticket was money well spent. RDC Williams Report post Posted October 21, 2004 What fun to have JT and Huth up front against West Ham ! Now we've thought of it we have to do it! Of course we have to play Glen Johnson, Scott Parker and as many other London boys we can muster elsewhere as well.I am looking forward to winding up the Irons ! Bazzablue Report post Posted October 21, 2004 JT is superb in the air, but not the fastest or most skilful on the ground.Apart from that, what the hell would happen to our defence (best in the Prem by a mile) if he was taklen out of it? Big risk, I think.
voodoo Report post Posted October 21, 2004 That shot, that JT curled in last night was as good as anything Henry has missed !Cech aside, wasn't in nice to see the "ol' Boys" leading the line, by example, last night (Terry, Billy Lampard, Eidur) ?
Gary Stone Report post Posted October 21, 2004 There is no seriousness in him playing Huth or Terry upfront, it was just an off the cuff remark to a reporter after Terry scored 3 in 3!
Harvz Report post Posted October 21, 2004 It would be a weird sight... Terry repeatedly running at defenders with the ball at his feet, and then hacking them down after they dispossess him. At least it wouldn't cost a penalty.
winter10 Report post Posted October 21, 2004 Would be funny, and I think JT would surprise many upfront. He has enough heart and committment to do well, wherever he plays.
CarlosTevez4Chelsea Report post Posted October 22, 2004 Not exactly a hair brained idea of playing Huth upfront, defenders know what defenders are thinking and that is a big advantage. If Mourinho was to train Huth as a target man upfront and test him out over a few years in the reserves (he's young enough but wouldn't be thrilled with the idea of not being able to play a first team game for a few years) he could do the job. Remember that Drogba was a midfield hatchet man before he was retrained as a forward. Casey is right though. id much prefer to have Carlton playing upfront given our current problems then to a Huth, god forbid Terry playing upfront. Terry stays at the back and thats that. We'd be a laughing stock if we had to resort to playing a defender upfront. But to have a young Huth retrained over a couple of seasons playing upfront for the reserves could be interesting!
