Tomori just strikes me as one of those players who will end up being bought by Liverpool or Man City and end up being class. Can't say I blame him for choosing to sign for AC Milan though.
  2. Euro (2020) 2021

Sorry I really don't know where to post this but I feel it has to be seen.

    You'd think not....

I am not sold on Schick yet. He's had a good tournament, but I remember players like Djibril Cisse looking like world-beaters at world cups. As others have pointed out, his domestic record is poor. I really don't think we're going to manage to get Haaland. If Dortmund sell Sancho they are not going to sell two of their best players. By all accounts it looks like Haaland is happy to stay at Dortmund for one more year as well. There's no urgency for him to move since he'll be playing in the Champions League. As for Lukaku... I personally think he's class. However, I'm not entirely sure he'll fit at Chelsea unless we manage to find another Fabregas for the double six. He's always going to want to the ball to come forward quickly and to feet. I think we're also all a little concerned with his first touch. But I don't doubt his ability to score when the setup of the team is right for him. At this rate we might be relying on Havertz to play up front. That may work out though.

I really can't blame him for taking that opportunity. I just hope he's not one of those players that ends up becoming world class and getting bought by one of our rivals. Is this person reliable?
  6. Euro (2020) 2021

    Wembley I believe

Indeed, and if it's true that it was done in April it really shows how little knowledge the media has of our transfer plans.
  8. Official: Chelsea Sign Thiago Silva

If I didn't know better I'd assume he was around 30, not 36. He will decline at some point but I'd love to see what 'medical age' he is in the mean time.

Giroud's contract has been extended by a year. The club has caught us by surprise! https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2021/06/04/giroud-contract-extended?cardIndex=0-0
  10. I get your point. Though I think if he's entitled to one it'd be fair to at least ask him and give him the choice of turning it down or otherwise.
  11. Absolutely - I actually forgot about the Valencia game. It was just round after round of overcoming the odds, each one being a classic. I think the only round that was remotely comfortable was Benfica. This year it never felt like we were really going to lose it (I mean beyond standard supporter nerves). The only really concerning moment was the challenge in the box from Azpi that was probably a penalty against Atletico at home. I'm not sure how the tie would have gone had that been awarded and scored. But otherwise, looking back, we were totally superior to every single opponent. That makes the entire campaign special in it's own right. I definitely felt the stakes were less than 2012 for sure. I mean given we had already qualified for the CL and this team is so young, the stakes were definitely lower. I don't know if I'd say I'd have 'accepted' a loss but it would have been way easier to deal with because of that. It seemed clear to me that we'd get another chance, whereas in 2012 that really was the last roll of the dice. This win still feels fantastic though and a really promising augur for the next few years.
  12. This feels unreal yet also totally different to 2012 for me. 2012 was an incredible, dramatic, emotional, all-or-nothing match since we hadn't qualified for the CL and it was likely to be the last chance for Drogba, Terry, Lampard, and Cech. We were beyond underdogs. It will also hold extra significance because it was our first win. 2021 felt incredible, maybe less dramatic but extremely emotional. But it feels like the beginning rather than the end, and I think this could signify the beginning of a dominant new era for this football club. Sure, we were underdogs, but I never felt like we'd get dominated the way we were against Bayern and I'm honestly not surprised we managed to outplay them. The frightening thing is the best is yet to come from these lads. With a couple more signings I genuinely think we're in with a shout of winning it again next year. And I don't think I'll get used to winning it even if we do!

    On a happier note
  14. Aston Villa 2 Chelsea 1

It's just a vocal minority. Best to ignore them and enjoy the fact we got top four and two finals, however frustrating the last few games have been.

It's tragic. Have a safe trip!

Does anyone know if Malang Sarr can play against us?

I'd be pretty surprised if we signed Messi. My suspicion is he's either going to Man City, PSG, or possibly China. Probably the former since FFP doesn't seem to apply to them.

I mean, when I first read this I raised an eyebrow. But then I thought, why not? As has been mentioned above he has plenty of experience and might help with some organisation. Might also add a little bit of depth to the position. No idea where we're at with finances, but it might also free us up to spend more on an LB and GK. It might also enable us to put Tomori out on loan to a PL side.

I think perhaps a 'defence coach' would have been the wrong term to use. But a coach who is a renown expert at organising defences I think would be a good thing. I can't find a quote, but I am sure it was mentioned during the first Mourinho era that Steve Clarke was particularly strong in that regard. But yes a 'defence coach' won't solve the issues, but I think it could be a positive contributing factor.
  20. I agree with the bolded bit especially. My frustration is that, while I personally do not think Kepa is at the right level to take us to what we're aiming for (ultimately champions I'm guessing) some of these stats are not an appropriate stick to beat him with. An analysis of our goals will show so many mistakes being made in front of Kepa before he's given anything to do. Honestly, some of the errors are comical from our centre backs especially. We also have issues with players struggling to adapt to what I think is sometimes our attempt at a Gegenpress. Some of the goals we've conceded start much, much further up the pitch because of some basic errors. After tomorrow we really could do with a compilation video of every goal conceded. Stats are often great, but I'm not convinced they're always better than what we see with the naked eye.

Yikes. Ok, we need to set something aside to improve this. Not that I'm an expert on coaches but there must be an available defensive specialist somewhere.

Seems to have removed all Chelsea stuff from his social media (banners, profile pictures etc). Hmm... Edit: Oops no the banner is still there on one account. Guess it's not much of an indicator anyway.

Agreed Can you imagine if Man City slip up now?
