  1. Best wishes on your 23rd birthday, Dan!

  2. New Kits

It's official....lime green/yellow it is! Away Kit 07/08 Certainly looks more yellow than lime....in which case it'll hopefully have blue trim (minus the black stripes) and look nicer than some of the mock ups posted on here (which proved to be incorrect afterall) ;-) EDIT: The "official" colour is "Electricity Yellow"! Asian Official Chelsea FC Megastore Release date: End of June (no specific date mention yet)
  3. Gianfranco Zola

Yeah, it was a great goal, especially after 60-odd yard run he made. I never had that one on my little compilation but I do remember it off the top of my head quite well. The little chip at the end of it was sublime
  4. Gianfranco Zola

Speaking of little men, I was going through a load of old clips the other day that I used to record onto VHS when I was like 10. Anyways, I found a compilation video tape that I made of John Spencer the 2ft tall Scottish bloke. I was never really his biggest fan, but once he scored that volley against Liverpool, he had an (almost) permanent place in my heart - until he moved to QPR & Everton of course! Mark Stein.....now there was a little big man. I reckon Jose should bring back the Furlong/Stein partnership to the Bridge....and the tangerine/graphite shirt ;-)
  5. Chelsea Reserve & Youth Team

    What, like Andorra?
  6. Didier Drogba

Happy birthday Didier! One goal against the Spurs today and he'll officially go down as a Chelsea legend.....as if he isn't already!
  7. New Kits

Well I'm not sure about you guys, but sometimes when I watch Chelsea at the bridge on TV, I find it hard to spot a Chelsea player compared to the blue paint that is behind the advertising boards. Maybe if we painted THOSE bright yellow, it would save us fans an extra 40 notes, plus the player would be a 1/4 second faster....maybe something for the FF? ;-)
  8. John Terry

What would be the point in offering him a longer-term contract than 5 years anyway? In 3 he'll probably be asking for more money and another contract when we're paying our newest superstars an extra £30k per week. I have no doubts he'll eventually sign (hopefully the same with Lamps) but he needs to show his commitment on the pitch, not by refusing a contract because he wants a longer one. As long as he wants to stay with Chelsea, I don't think there's any doubt that he'll be offered a new contract each time his current one is coming to an end. I'm hoping this is just an over-hyped media story that has no truth in it, but if there is then JT just needs to put pen to paper on the current deal and look at his longer-term future in a couple of years time when he reaches the age that a 6 year contract would take him to the end of his days as a Chelsea player. Besides, it certainly wouldn't be in the clubs financial interests if he signed a 9-year deal then now, then a year down the line he's career is ruined and we're paying him £120k+ per week in insurance costs for the next 8 years (if that's how it works?!?)
  9. John Terry

There was an interview with Steve McClaren last week in which he said he would be visiting all Premiership clubs' training grounds to meet the managers and players. Hopefully it's nothing more than that and he'll be visiting JT & co shortly. Apparantely, he has already made his mind up on who's the next captain but isn't going to announe it until he announces the squad for the friendly against Greece next week

quote:Originally posted by RobbenDan, tune in to ChelseaTV at 1:45 if you can as it will be live. id="quote"> id="quote">Would love to mate, but made the switch to NTL about a year or so ago so no CTV anymore. I'm glad to see they've decided to show the pre-season games live on Chelsea TV Online though :)
  11. New Kits

Just realised the 2 kits shown aint different, Cudicini is wearing the GK top and I thought it was a different shirt for a minute....lol
  12. New Kits

The final hidden part of the kit on the Adidas site has been revealed, we can now see the full kit - although you can still only see one section at a time. http://www.adidas.com/chelsea Also, on the Official CFC site there is an advert for the new kit. It's quite a cool flash advert but not sure if it's being shown on TV today at all?? http://www.chelseafc.com/article.asp?hlid=...rrived&nav=news The 2 designs look different to me....*confused* Perhaps one is the Champions League kit?
  13. New Kits

Is it just me or is the badge on the home strip the centenary badge? I really can't say that I think these are the actual kits we're going to wear next season. It looks like a sunday league team kit with the sponsor and badge. These photos were no doubt taken in an warehouse in Thailand that produce mass amounts of fakes. It also wouldn't surpsie me if somebody from Adidas tipped them off that these were going to be the actual designs. There was a documentary on a couple of months back (after I chelsea game I recall) about Umbro and their fight against fake footballing merchandise. They sent some guy to Thailand with designs for the new England away shirt. The ring-leader of the fake shirts then had over 5000 made...only for it to be the wrong design - completely! I sincerely hope Adidas can come up with something MUCH better than this. I'd be surprised if they didn't. I'm sure Kenyon & co have been in close contact with Adidas to create something extra special because after all, don't ALL Adidas kits look pretty much the same?
  14. Michael Essien

quote:Originally posted by cechmateI don't think we should bring in a new striker. What is the point in having C.Cole and paying his wages if we're too scared to use him id="quote"> id="quote">Good point, but that didn't stop a certain Winston Bogarde sitting on the bench and raking it in did it? Just because we have a player who's wages are being payed, it doesn't mean we have to play him. My comments above were in no way a dig at Carlton but a suggestion to bring in a striker earlier than the summer.
  15. Michael Essien

quote:Originally posted by BluesBrotherCrespo's injury is potentially more serious to us in terms of replacing him... what with Essien and Drogbas involvement in the African Nations cup... Guddy proved today that he can replace Essien no problem, but with Drogs away, we only have Cole as cover... January sales anyone? id="quote"> id="quote">Perhaps it would be a good idea to bring in a striker whilst Drogba is away on international duty in Africa. Although we do have Crespo to be the main replacement for Drogs, I can't help but wonder what would happen to us if Crespo was to get injured during that time, like he did today (fingers crossed, he wont) Obviously we have Eidur who could fill that role up front, with Maniche covering for Essien, but, can we really take the risk of losing Crespo through injury and having limited attacking options in Eidur & Carlton? Crespo's been in great form of late and as much as we'd all love to see him fit for those games, there's always that risk that something could happen. It only takes one mis-timed tackle (as what happened with Essien today) and we're left with C.Cole as our only out and out striker. Obviously we do have other players capable of scoring goals and creating chances such as Lamps, J.Cole, Robben, Duff, Eidur & SWP. But with the system we play, I'm not entirely sure that Gudjohnsen could play that role, up front on his own. It would mean a complete change in the overall formation of the squad and he would need somebody to support him in a 4-4-2 system. Maybe a loan deal would suit our needs better until Drogba is back, but, if we really are considering a permanent move for a striker for next season, maybe we would be better off looking for a permanent striker now, instead of the summer?
