Best Live Albums

Recommended Posts

QueSera

Music seems a popular topic on this forum. We've all heard great albums and then the artist/group can't match it on stage be it 'cause the studio overdubs or effects are unrepeatable live or the artist just can't get the performance. So here's the question, what are your favourite or the best 'live' albums.

To start it off, here are some of mine:

The Who Live at Leeds

Humble Pie Rocking the Fillmore

Frampton Comes Alive

Rory Gallagher Stagestruck

Rory Gallagher Live in Europe

Free Live

Isaac Hayes Live at The Sahara Tahoe. With or without today's sad news, an absolute belter.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Hammersmith Odeon, London 1975. Mind blowing, recently released recording of the Boss' heroic early gig in England. The opening Thunder Road and Rosalita are awesome.

Curtis Live, Curtis Mayfiled. Sweet soul music. Takes We've Only Just Begun and makes it a civil rights anthem.

Sinatra at The Sands, Frank Sinatra, Count Basie and the Orchestra. And conducted by Quincey Jones. The best.

Live by Donny Hathaway. The much missed singer at his best. Amazing album.

Can only think of two I ever listen to that aren't originally bootlegs(and that's another story entirely):"Rank"-The Smiths &"Stp Making Sense"-Talking Heads.

Rolling Stones, 'Get Yer Ya Ya's out!' Great live performance by a band at their peak.
