Lol.....no I mean it as an honest question. Presumably he has SOME role at the club still?

Read our website and the press - Jose explains - very much a 'we decided' type answer: JM, the players involved, and presumably a few others.

Far more likely that difficulty of getting rid of him has not been deemed worth the result. He is far from being the useless waste of space people believe him to be: people look at the cost vs output far more often than they just look at him as a player, and the truth is he is a pretty decent one still - certainly good enough for second/third choice - and a far more complete player than Lukaku is. Certainly, his link up play is superior - which is what our team is currently being built around.

It's probably a matter of looking at Torres and seeing someone who, even if he goes, will make marginal profit for us and the best use of him as a resource is to keep him. In fact, people should just plain forget his price for a year and pretend he is just another squad player bought for a quid like Ba - it will help you all sleep.

that your opinion of the man, fair enough

but from what I have seen there is nothing torres does better than lukaku

he was right to go on loan and not risk his chances for the world cup

yep, I remember them clearly, dire performances from the strikers,

hopefully eto comes good

yes and to be honest all of us will rather have ba warm our bench than lukaku

I just hope to God he doesnt get frustrated and leave next season

seen the lukaku quotes?

where he says something along the lines of

'I didn't leave because eto came, I was already below torres in the pecking order'

This is why I am of the opinion that managers have been given instruction to make torres successful,

its killing us

sturridge left because of it, and now lukaku had decided to go on loan

because of it, if he wasn't a fan, he'd have left with sturridge a long time ago...

I don't think he's discouraged, I think he's had a conversation with JM which made crystal clear everything good about an Everton loan. It is the perfect loan opportunity for him, and I think definitely the best thing long term for the player and club, but our squad suffers from this.

Highly doubt Lukaku will make his name anywhere else though. Next season when he comes home he will be totally ready.

Seriously, I am annoyed that Tottenham and Arsenal made some very decent deals in the last seconds of the window. Tottenham ripped off Real big time and have a stronger squad now, while Arsenal got a very good playmaker, whose passing is close to excellent.

As far as Real Madrid goes - honest opinion - they bought one player for 86m and sold a better one for half that amount. It's like they buy expensive player just for the sake of it. Like a tradition or something. Morons.

look on the bright side-- most of us aren't spanish taxpayers!! if I was...... well, I guess I'd be a separatist, just not of catalunya

Signing Lewandowski up early into the winter transfer window.

That would be awesome but I doubt he'll entertain any move to a club besides like bayern and RM. Very much seems he's set on staying in Germany which is too bad. Eto'o and Lukaku combined would probably discourage him too.

I think we have the best chance with a more versatile forward type that is either in the 22-25 range or 27-30

Bankia must have financed the deal, why would he say that otherwise

I raised this elsewhere and was pointed to a couple of Swiss Ramble posts about Real's recent finances.

It's BS, the bloke's flying a kite.

Surely if there was any suspicion of Real transgressing, uefa would be all over them like a rash? Oh wait......

If my understanding of the two Swiss Ramble pieces I read is right, he's way off and might end up looking a bit stupid.

I was pointed in the right direction by Sid Celery, once of this parish.

From April 30, 2012 see

From October 19, 2012 see

Both very long pieces.

the issue he is raising is totally different

what he is saying is first Spain asks for bailout money to fix its economy and with the limited amount of money available to the banks they use it for something that will add zero jobs or value to the economy(using money for entertainment purposes)

I doubt Real will ever go down under but with this financial uncertainty everything right now is little bit murky
