So...

Cech

Terry

Cahill

Ivanovic

Azpilicueta

KDB

Oscar

Hazard

Mata

Willian

Shurrle...

Why not? I suppose it's worth a try as we are conceding openly anyway. Maybe it will work, Arsenal play Arteta, Ramsey, Wilshere, Cazorla, Ozil and Giroud...

Almost. I'm more a fan of Luiz than Cahill and I'd rotate Oscar and KDB. Mikel or Ramires next to them.

Plus I'd prefer Cole at LB and Azpi at RB. If Azpi can excel out of position he should be a beast back at RB. Branners can be back up for both RB and CB. Nobody else can do that for us.

The arsenal player I was thinking of was Henry.

1) Kalas - He has been injured but where is he now?

2) Omeruo - He isn't even performing at a top level.

3) Ake - He is playing at reserve level, if reserve level is good enough then Kalas should be getting some time there too.

4) Chalobah - He isn't even getting games, he trains with less quality then if he was with us. It is not aiding his development at all, if anything it is wasting his talent.

1) Not being given a chance - that's where he is now. The question is why?

2) He's playing (and playing well) for his full national team.

3) Yes, he is. But as I've said already - he's nailing it. Does he ever get an opportunity to step up?

4) Which is my point. Ask yourself why that is?

Remember that you were originally talking about next season, in terms of the CB position needing addressing. What is the point in going our and splurging serious money on another more experienced CB? We may as well tell these younger guys to bugger off now. And it's interesting that earlier you name-checked the likes of Barclay, Shaw, etc - if those guys were Chelsea players, they'd either be playing in the U21's, or out on loan. They're getting noticed, because their clubs have given them a chance.

I actually agree. But it's just that. Do we give them a chance or buy more complete players? Will the club an fans give it time? I doubt it very much from looking at others. We have players like McEachran and Piazon, but signed Willian. Piazon was on te edge of our first team then gets loaned out. McEachran looked the part an then got dumped in lower leagues. If we didn't have a wallet the size of Moscow I'm sure these players would be making headlines. Even Bamford looks sharper then out current forwards, but if we go for the Falcao's an Lewandowski's of this world then Bamford might as well go now.

Edit: Add Lukaku to that list too.

Piazon was never on the edge of the first team - he was just the only young player not out on loan so he got to make up the numbers some time. If an PL manager thought he was going to make it, he'd be on loan in the prem, not in Holland.

McEachran & Willian - I just can't imaging those two standing next to each other, never mind competing for a place.

Agree with the Piazon never being on the first team, but still quality

Patrick Van Aanholt is the best player we have out on loan at the moment. He'd be excelling had he being kept.

Omeruo wasn't registered I do believe?

In terms of youth who could make it:

Chalobah

PVA

Ake

Omeruro

Piazon

Bamford (I believe he has a role to play, but if his chance isn't given.....)

Van Ginkel (was bought in later than the others)

McEachran (Don't think he will make it, but could)

The thing is... probably none of them will be given a season here.

Maybe van ginkel but I agree , ill be surprised if any of the others get a look in.

I could see Oscar and/or KDB being tried as creative DM and Schurrle up front. That would then give more opportunity under rotation to our plethora of AMs. Win win if it works.

Schurrle looks like the most natural finisher at the club. Wenger made a similar call on a wide player a few years ago and that worked out ok for them.

Oscar appears to have all of the tools to be our (over-used simile, but spot on) Modric.

Good shout but will jose try it bearing in mind he's made it clear oscar is his preffered no 10 ?

I sort of get you. Steve Holland especially looks abit lost. I want some character as Jose's number 2, even someone like Wise? Someone to bring some passion an never die attitude to the teamwork. Desailly? Shame Gus Poyet went into management at a high level, he would have been perfect. Maybe it's time for Terry, Lampard and Drogba to come back and step up? Would be nice to see it happen, as I think they have vast knowledge in all areas of the pitch.

Rui Faria is more a opposition scout an coach.

Steve Holland is the one who seems out of his depth.

I know Rui Faria is technically a fitness specialist but it always seems to be he who Jose talks to during games and always the second hand opposition managers shake. Steve Holland really doesn't seem confident enough to put his head above the trench and I'm guessing that comes through on the training pitch too. It isn't a coincidence that our success seems to coincide with a dominant number 2. Steve Clarke, Ray Wilkins, Eddie Newton. I think we could save ourselves a lot of money and time by looking at the coaching staff rather than identifying the weakness in the squad.

I agree, they would all be getting noticed. But lets face it, Chelsea Football Club won't let them get noticed. Will the club let Jose lose a few games while he gets these players in order? If we were not quite getting it right and using these young players I would be alot happier then seeing players like Bertrand, Cahill, Essien, Willian an Eto'o an still not getting it right. If we had PVA, Omeruo, Ake, Piazon, Lukaku/Bamford I would not be saying a word, even if we were further down the table I would be more happier, knowing that our club is willing to give it time to produce players. We should save the youth their careers an send them on their way now, and go buy players, I will be surprised if we give them a chance. Edited by GURJ SS

I think Jose needs to build from the back. He has started his stability from the back in every team he has taken over.

GK - Need to bring back Cortous in the summer.

DF - In the winter Ivanovic needs to come to centre back and we sell Luiz while we can get a good fee for him. Get Coleman in at right back from Everton. At left back, sell Bertrand and bring in Shaw from Southampton. In the summer I would like to see the centre back issue addressed in depth.

MF - I think Essien and Lampard need to make way for Rakitic and Barkley. Also to bring back Oriol Romeu, as he is a DM that can also get the ball moving in possesion. We need these deals wrapped up in January so in the summer we haven't got so much competition, we just let them stay at their clubs until the summer.

ST - Bring back Lukaku in the summer in place of Eto'o. Get Diego Costa in to replace Ba. We then have Diego Costa, Torres and Lukaku.

Any deal needs to be done before the World Cup, as prices will only go up.

good post. I agree on the overall message you have here in that summertime alone will not be time enough for Chelsea to plug all the holes.

As soon as last summer's window closed, I was looking forward to ManUtd and Chelsea falling out of the top 4. Chelsea are already behind in the goal building a balanced squad--have been since Makelele and even more since Ballack departed.

Sell Luiz and bring two solid center midfielders, give Bertrand playtime, Azpi to RB. Torres still needs to leave, but IDK when that will happen.

deBruyne can be loaned... but the question is: will Chelsea get their S**T SORTED OUT by the time Kevin and/or Lukaku come back?

The Blues continue their reputation as laughing stock of the rich clubs under Mourinho? tick-tock.
