Christensen didn't make the bench today, probably some truth to the loo-gate reports. Hopefully a punishment and back in the fold.

Piazon on the bench with Ampadu the CB option, Willian, Kovacic and CHO on the bench. Pure conjecture but is there more to the Drinkwater situation than we think to not even make the bench over Piazon (PL winner or championship player) maybe just an extra attacking option if we were chasing the game.

Just think Drinkwater isn't a Sarri player. Look at some of the previous exclusions at Chelsea. Mikel with Conte, Malouda and Anelka.

Malouda, Anelka, Mikel had been here for a while, were in their 30s, went on to China, India etc when leaving

Drinkwater is 29 and blatantly still good enough to play in the prem, and won the prem alongside Kante 3 seasons ago, can't get a look in.

Piazon is 25 and his career highlight is playing half the available minutes in a season for Fulham in the championship, played 16 mins of prem football, why is he even still here.

Which one is more of a chelsea player for any manager playing any style of football. Something doesn't stack up.

With Piazon perhaps the idea tonight was to go 4-0 up, bring him on and get someone else interested.

West Ham are being linked with Belotti in the Italian media with Torino reportedly quoting at least €45m (£39) would be needed to get a deal done.

He has 7 in 20 so far this season in Serie A - and 55 from 114 (8) games since joining Torino in 2015/16. Who keep in mind are a mid-table side that's not blessed with much attacking firepower.

At 25 years old he's in that good age bracket. He can play upfront alone or with a partner, works hard off the ball, is good in the air for his size and has a thunderous left foot. On top of that he's solidly built and uses his body well - capable of playing both with back to goal or on the ground.

Can't help but feel we should be in on him for this sort of price.

More or less.
Mikel was just 29 when he left and has under Hiddink been picked ahead of Matic.  I guess the January move the China was approved by the club, and he went to the Olympics with Nigeria returning late for the season, so Conte blanked him.  Great shame he didn't have a send off match, and I am looking forward to see him back in the Championship.

Anelka was older, and he too had a £200k a week contract from January in China.  Despite consistent reports in media and on here, the club treated Anelka and Alex (on ice for PSG) remarkably well.  Malouda seems to be the only one who was really treated harshly.

Piazon earns so much, there is no purpose loaning him to another club at his level, and he will run down his contract before signing a deal somewhere at a proper level.
Yes Drinkwater is weird.  I don't think we have heard a peep out of Drinkwater since he arrived.  You'd expect at least some agent's talk reminding other clubs he might be available.  Perhaps there are personal issues going on.

Drinkwater isn't going to earn nearly as much anywhere else. Don't blame him if he's content with training and collecting that pay check.

As someone said, the English Bogarde. We are very good at creating Bogarde situations, we have so many players just seeing out their contract.

Only the last 18 months.
In the past we have been very effective at keeping the first team squad numbers very low - often far too low for our own good.
Even now with a massive squad it seems to me that everyone actually would be rather playing than not playing.
Drinkwater may be the exception, but I recall him as such a whole hearted trier at Leicester (and when seen at Chelsea) I feel sure there is more to the story.
